Pop Mart Display Case for the Stitch Romantic Series: $67.80 to $124.30, and Why a 30×20×30cm Portrait Format Poses the Lit-vs-Unlit Question Differently

Lit or unlit? That's the first question everyone asks when they see the Pop Mart Stitch Romantic Series on a shelf. Most collectors answer fast — put a ring light on it, the figure is romantic, it should glow. I sat in front of a sample for the better part of half an hour yesterday and kept flipping the switch off. The Stitch figure is already so saturated in pink-purple-red that the LED on top pushes every colour one notch warmer. The romantic UV background stops reading like a Valentine card and starts reading like a warm wash that's louder than the figure.
That's the puzzle of this 30×20×30cm box. Most of our Pop Mart cases are 25×25×35cm cubes. This one is wider, shallower, slightly shorter — closer to a portrait frame than a vitrine. The geometry changes the question. Let me walk through what each tier buys you, what each tier hides, and where a designer would put a 30×20×30 on a wall.
The simplest version is $67.80 — three-millimetre acrylic panels, no UV print, just a clear box around the figure. Stitch is a 12-13cm character with ears that stick out, so the 30cm width gives the ears about 8cm of clearance on each side, and the 20cm depth brings the front wall close to the figure's chest. The mirror floor sheet we ship with every case gives the figure a soft reflection under its feet, which on Stitch reads as a small puddle of pink light. Without UV, the case reads as a transparent shell — the figure does all the work. This is the right tier if your wall is already busy and the box needs to disappear.
The With Background tier is $79.10 — same acrylic, same base, but a UV-printed panel sits behind the figure. Stitch Romantic ships with a soft pastel UV: pink heart-shaped clouds, lavender roses on the right, a strip of blue water at the bottom, and the warm yellow of a sun just out of frame. The 30cm width gives the UV about 10cm more breathing room than a 25cm cube would, and the eye moves left to right across the scene rather than collapsing into the centre. Without a light on top, the colours read close to what the printer put down. Stitch's pink-purple-red sits against the UV's pink-blue-yellow and stays the loudest thing in the room. Most customers end up here.
Now add the ring light. The Ring Light + With Background tier is $101.70. The case gets a black top panel with a concealed LED strip along the front edge, the slide-open door has a small notch on the right, and the base thickens from a 2cm brushed black plinth to a 10mm PVC foam board. When you flip the switch, the UV warms by a few percent and Stitch's pink gets a touch more amber. The ears glow. The blue water in the UV shifts toward green. The mirror floor doubles the figure's reflection — you get a half-floating Stitch, top half figure, bottom half phantom. That's beautiful, but it changes what the UV is doing. The pink heart cloud stops reading as a heart cloud and reads as a warm wash. Designers call this "the colour stop" — when the light pushes a pastel into a warm tone, the scene loses its descriptive edges and becomes an ambient glow.
So what would I do with a Stitch Romantic of my own? Start at the $79.10 tier and leave the light off. The pastel UV already tells a story; the LED strip flattens it. If you do want a glow, the mirror floor gives you that without the warm wash. If the light is non-negotiable, the fourth tier — Solid Wood Ring Light + With Background at $124.30 — uses 12mm natural wood on top and bottom instead of the black PVC, and the warmer wood frame pulls the LED strip back toward neutral. Wood tones down the harsh edge of the strip before it lands on the figure. Pick that tier if your shelf is wood and you want the case to read as part of the nightstand instead of a black glass block on top of it.
On sizing. The 30cm height is what makes this case a nightstand case. A standard nightstand is 55-65cm tall and 30-40cm deep. The Stitch box sits on top, the 20cm depth parks the case inside the front edge of the nightstand, and the 30cm height matches the line of sight from someone lying in bed. Most cubes we sell are 35cm tall and they sit too high for that — you read them from across the room. A 30cm portrait format is a case you read up close.
The slide-open door slides into a channel on the right side of the case, parks inside the frame, and leaves the front face clear when open. There is no hinge pin to bend and no lid to drop on your fingers. For a Pop Mart case specifically, the slide-open matters because most Pop Mart figures are small enough that you reach in and out a lot — you swap the figure for a different series, you clean the mirror floor, you take the figure out to photograph it. A hinged lid gets in the way after the third open. A slide-open disappears.
On the UV print. Send a file at 1MB or larger, somewhere between a hundred thousand and a million pixels on the long edge. If your art is a phone photo, it will print soft. If your art is a clean PNG or a scan, it will print sharp. We warm the print by a few percent before the second pass to compensate for the cooler cast the 3mm acrylic sheet throws on the colour. Most factories run a single pass. We run the second pass because the Stitch figure is a colour-heavy character and a half-percent drift in the UV pink will fight Stitch's own pink.
On the custom size route. The non-standard box goes up by 3-3-5 (length-width-height) cm from the figure's tallest, widest, and deepest point, and that gives you finger room around the figure without paying for air. Every cm of custom cut is roughly the same per-cm price as the standard tier — we don't bump the rate for non-standard sizes. Drop us a note with the figure's three measurements and we'll quote it before you order.
