Pop Mart Display Case for the Molly Pixel Stage: $67.80 to $124.30, and Why a 25×25×35cm Cube Reads Differently from a 35cm Wide Box
Share
Most display cases for Pop Mart figures try to be invisible. They sit on the shelf, the figure floats inside, the room ignores the box. The Molly Pixel Stage Series was not built for invisible. The 25×25×35cm case is a cube — not a wide rectangle, not a tall column. A cube. And the UV-printed backdrop is a red theatre curtain with brass proscenium arches and pixel-grid footlights along the floor. The cube will not disappear into a wall of books, and the curtain will not dissolve into a beige wall. So the question is not "what box do I buy." It is "where does this cube want to live." That is a different question, and it changes the room.
Theatre curtains are moody. Show them under daylight from a north-facing window and the red reads as a clean stage red — almost primary, slightly cool. Show the same curtain under a warm wall sconce in the evening and the red softens into something close to amber. The brass arches pick up the same shift. This is not a defect; it is how the same UV-printed panel behaves under different room lighting. We run the print at twice the resolution most factories use, so the pixel-grid footlights stay sharp at either end of the temperature range. But the colour temperature of your room will tint the curtain in ways the case itself cannot control. Pick the wall sconce (or skip it) before you pick the tier.
The four $67.80 to $124.30 tiers are four different reads of the same cube.
The $67.80 tier is plain acrylic, no UV, no light. Set it on a shelf next to three hardcover books and the box reads clean, almost editorial. No backdrop means whatever sits behind the figure — a beige wall, a walnut shelf, a white radiator — becomes the backdrop. For a small bedside shelf where the room is already visually busy, that is usually the right call. For a wall-mounted cube shelf in a hallway where the back panel is a flat painted wall, the $67.80 case can quietly do its job without adding a third pattern to the wall.
The $79.10 tier adds the UV theatre backdrop without the ring light. The curtain stays matte, the brass arches stay flat-printed, the figure reads clearly under room light. If you want the curtain but you do not want to plug a low-voltage ring light into a wall socket near the shelf, this is the version.
The $101.70 tier adds the LED ring light at the top of the cube. The footlights on the curtain pick up the wash. The figure's headphones and the pixel pattern on the hoodie go from printed-on to back-lit. This is the tier most Molly Pixel Stage collectors end up choosing, because the figure was designed for that lit-pixel read — Molly is wearing headphones, and the headphones want light.
The $124.30 tier is the solid-wood version of the $101.70 case. The top and bottom panels are 12mm natural birch instead of 10mm PVC. The wood gives the cube a warmer base under the cool red curtain — an oak tone sitting under a stage red, the two colours quietly arguing. For a low walnut side table or a Scandinavian floor shelf, this tier reads as furniture, not as a box.
Across the four tiers, the case stays 25×25×35cm. The cube footprint means depth and width are equal — 25cm either way. A standard four-cell cube shelf (each cell around 33×33×33cm internally) takes the case with about 8cm of clearance around three sides. You can reach in from the front and lift the figure without unclipping the door. If you want the case flush with the cell, ask for a 27×27×37cm custom build (3cm of finger room on each side panel, 2cm on top for the slide rail), no extra charge.
The Pixel Stage is a high-saturation figure. The UV press runs the curtain as one flat pass, then a second pass for the brass arches and the footlights. Most factories print at a single pass; we run the second pass so the brass reads as brass under the curtain, not as a slightly darker red. Send us a wall photo with a white card next to it for reference, and we will warm or cool the print run by a few percent before we cut the panel.
The wood option ($124.30) adds about 0.8kg to the cube. It stays stable on a 35cm shelf, and the 12mm base dampens the small vibration from a nearby washing machine. If you are stacking two cubes vertically on the same shelf column, put the wood version on the bottom cube and the PVC version on top — the weight distribution keeps both from tipping when you slide a door open.
Every Scoparius case ships with a free mirror floor sheet. Set it under the figure, and the pixel pattern on Molly's trousers continues into the reflection — a half-step pixel effect that makes the figure read longer than it is. Without the mirror, the figure stands alone. With it, the case reads twice as tall and twice as quiet.
The slide-open door is on the right side of the cube. Open it from the right, slide the door into the side rail, lift the figure, slide it back. The door does not have a hinge, so there is no hinge pin to bend and no lid to drop on your fingers. We sized the rail so the door parks inside the cube frame — from the front, the closed case reads as one solid panel.
The Molly Pixel Stage Series is one of those figures that wants the case to be part of the room, not just the frame for the room. Pick the tier that matches the wall colour ($67.80 plain, $79.10 with the theatre backdrop, $101.70 with the ring light, $124.30 with the solid wood top and base), pick the shelf that has one cube of empty space, and the figure does the rest. Browse the collection and add the case to the cart — case only, figure not included.
