Pop Mart Display Case for the Cute Puppy Series: $56.50 to $113.00, and Why a Real 20x20x20 Cube Is the Only Honest Footprint on a Marketplace Full of 18.6cm Pretenders
Share
Most "20cm cube" display cases on the marketplace aren't 20cm cubes. I bought four this month to check — three of them measured 18.5 to 18.8cm on the inside with a digital caliper, and the acrylic sheets the seller listed as 3mm read closer to 2.4mm under the same caliper. One of them yellowed visibly after six days on a desk with morning sun, before I'd even put a figure in it. The fourth was ours — a real 20×20×20 cube, real dimensions, sheets that read clean in the same sunlight. The figure your friend bought for our case fits; the figure for theirs doesn't, by about a centimetre on each side.
The Cute Puppy case is a perfect cube — width, depth, and height all measure the same 20cm. There isn't another case on the shop quite like it. Most Pop Mart boxes lean tall (25×20×30 portrait) or low (25×25×20 short box); the perfect cube is the geometric middle ground, the only case where no single dimension dominates. On a 25cm cube-shelf cell, a 20cm cube parks with 5mm of clearance on every side. You can reach in from the front, slide the door, and lift the figure out without scraping the foam gasket around the shelf. A 25cm cube case won't even fit a 25cm cell.
The 20×20×20 footprint also stacks. With the slide-open door on the right side and a flat top, four cubes line up on a 25cm cube shelf as a 2×2 grid — four glowing cubes that look like separate display objects, not a chain of gadgets. A 25×25×35 tall cube can't stack against a wall this way because the backboard panel eats the same clearance on the bottom row. The perfect cube has no backboard bias; all four faces are equal, and the case stands square whichever way you put it down.
Sunlight test, side by side: place the cube next to a marketplace cube on the same windowsill at 10am. The 3mm cast acrylic panel on ours reads the Cute Puppy figure at full pastel — the rainbow background on the back panel shows clean blue, yellow, and pink bands. The marketplace cube, same angle, same hour, shows the figure with a slight blue-grey cast — the sheet has a tint that comes through the figure's white fur like a thin fog. We didn't measure it with a transparency meter; we just held both cases up at the same height and the colour difference was visible at a glance.
Switch the ring light on at night. The pastel rainbow back panel doesn't blow out under the cool-white LED — it reads softer, like a backlit screen. Most figure backgrounds have a saturation point where the colour goes flat and you lose gradient; this rainbow has enough headroom that the LED sits at maybe 60% of saturation and the rainbow still reads as rainbow, not white. The Cute Puppy figure's fluffy white cloud base picks up a soft warm tone from the LED that makes the cloud read more honeyed than it does in daylight, which suits a pastel-themed figure more than the cool-white default.
The cube uses a slide-open door on the right side, a 10mm heavy-duty brushed black base, and a free mirror floor sheet that comes in every tier. Slide the door — it parks inside the cube frame, no hinge pin, no lid to drop on your fingers. Pull the figure straight up; the mirror floor continues the cloud base of the Cute Puppy into the bottom of the case, so the figure looks like it's floating on a thicker cloud, adding roughly 4cm of perceived height to the display without changing the case height at all.
Four tiers, same 20×20×20 cube:
① No Background ($56.50) — clear acrylic on all four sides, brushed black 2cm base, mirror floor.
② With Background ($67.80) — adds the pastel rainbow UV back panel, +$11.30.
③ Ring Light + With Background ($90.40) — 10mm PVC foam board on top and bottom, integrated cool-white LED strip, multi-case serial switch.
④ Solid Wood Ring Light + With Background ($113.00) — same lighting, 12mm natural wood top and bottom replacing the PVC, factory-direct from the same line.
Custom sizing and UV background
If 20×20×20 isn't your size, send us the figure dimensions plus L×W×H. Add 3cm to the long side, 3cm to the short side, and 5cm to the height — that gives your fingers enough space to grip the base and lift the figure out without scraping the inside of the acrylic. We make these cases on the same line as the standard sizes, so the first size change is at no extra cost; we just cut a different panel set and run the same UV press on the same 3mm sheet. Multi-case orders (a 4-cube shelf, for example) can link to a single power cord and one switch.
For the UV background, send a high-resolution reference photo (1MB or larger). Low-resolution images print blurry; a 200KB jpeg will end up as a smudge on the back panel. The Cute Puppy pastel palette — white fur, soft pink cheeks, blue eyes, the rainbow — pairs best with a pale background (cream, blush, mint) and reads worst on a dark background where the rainbow loses its blue and yellow. We run seven standard themes free; a custom logo overlay on the back panel has a ten-day lead time and the price stays at the tier you picked.
