$33.90 vs $129.95 Pop Mart Display Cases: A Side-by-Side on Dimoo Space, Apollo, and One Piece Chopper

$33.90 vs $129.95 Pop Mart Display Cases: A Side-by-Side on Dimoo Space, Apollo, and One Piece Chopper

Set a $33.90 Pop Mart display case on your desk, then set a $90.40 one next to it. Walk away for thirty seconds. Walk back. Your eye will land on the more expensive one first. It isn't the size that pulls you in — it's the way the acrylic takes the light. The cheaper case is built from the same 3mm cast acrylic sheet we use across our entire Pop Mart line. But the more expensive one ships with a UV-printed themed background, a ring light, and a brushed black 2cm base that makes the figure inside look like it's floating. The cheap one reads like a box. The expensive one reads like a small room.

Last Tuesday a customer in Bristol emailed me three photos of three Pop Mart cases laid out on her dining-room table — Dimoo Space at the entry level, Apollo in the middle, One Piece Chopper at the top. She had bought all three. She laid them out to decide which one to keep. She asked me: "I know they're all the same 3mm acrylic and the same base. So which one is the keeper?" She leaned over to pick up the Dimoo Space. Her hand was cold — she had been walking the dog in the December rain. She rested her palm flat on the side panel of the Apollo for a second, and when she pulled her hand away, a soft handprint was hanging on the acrylic, like fog on a bathroom mirror. It faded in about four seconds. The acrylic was already at room temperature. Her palm wasn't. That moment — the handprint, the fading, the fact that the box and her hand were not the same temperature — was the moment she picked the Apollo.

Dimoo Space sits at the bottom of the price ladder for a reason. The box is 15 by 15 by 20cm — small, fitted for a single figure. Inside the UV background is a deep-space print: orange Saturn rings on the left, a small grey alien on the right, the word DIMOO spelled out in stars. The figure is a single astronaut Dimoo, helmet on, carrying a tiny green alien in a red wheelbarrow. At $33.90 with no background and $45.20 with the UV print, Dimoo Space runs cheaper than most of our LEGO cases. The acrylic is the same 3mm cast sheet, the same 98 percent transparency. What changes as you climb the ladder isn't the glass on the side. It's what arrives in the box.

Apollo sits in the middle of the line. The box is 25 by 25 by 35cm — more or less a cube, the kind of box you put on a side table where the figure inside it is right at your eye level when you sit on the sofa. The Apollo figure wears an orange astronaut suit with a black-and-orange helmet and a glowing centre on the chestplate. The background is a red-and-blue cyberpunk cityscape, bright streaks behind the figure like the box is parked inside a small arcade. At $67.80 with no background, $79.10 with the UV print, and $101.70 with the ring light switched on, Apollo sits exactly where most customers stop. Step up to $124.30 and the box arrives in our upgraded Solid Wood Edition — 12mm natural wood top and bottom panels instead of the standard 10mm PVC foam. The ring light system is the same LED strip and the same driver we use across the whole showcase line, just mounted in a heavier frame. The wood frame is what changes the weight in your hand.

One Piece Chopper Pop Mart display case, ring light on, manga landscape background

One Piece Chopper runs at the top. The figure is the small reindeer doctor from the manga, in his signature blue-and-pink striped hat with the white cross on the front. The UV background is the One Piece cast logo on top, blue sky and green grass below, two small trees on either side — the world of the manga, shrunk down to fit behind a 20cm figure. The box itself is 30 by 30 by 40cm, the largest of the three. At $73.45 for the 400% Chopper with no background, $84.75 with the UV print, $107.35 with the ring light on, and $129.95 with the solid wood frame. Step up to the 1000% Chopper and the same box jumps to $316.40. The figure is roughly twice the size of the 400%, and the 1000% box is the only case on our Pop Mart line that the courier has to carry with two hands.

All three boxes come off the same manufacturing line. The panels are cut on the same CNC table. The acrylic is the same 3mm cast sheet, same 98 percent transparency. The base is the same brushed black 2cm raised frame. The LED chip inside the ring light is the same strip we spec for our Pop Mart and LEGO lines — plug the boxes in next to each other and they all run the same tone, no re-pairing, no remotes, one switch. The slide-open door uses the same Snap-Fit assembly. What separates the three prices is what arrives in the box: the ring light circuit board, the 10mm PVC foam or the 12mm solid wood top and bottom, and the UV-printed themed background, which is its own print job on its own acrylic sheet.

All three boxes can be customised for a figure or a model that doesn't sit on our product list. The custom pricing holds the same as the standard line — there is no extra charge for changing the box size. Three things help us get the customisation right. One: send a high-resolution photo of the figure or the model you want to display — anything under 1MB prints blurry on the UV background. Two: think about the background before you send the photo. A dark background makes a light figure pop; a light background makes a dark figure pop. The choice is yours, but it changes the look of the box in the room. Three: leave finger room. Add 3cm to the width, 3cm to the depth, and 5cm to the height of your figure's actual measurements. The lid slides on from the top, so a finger needs the 5cm on the height to pull the lid back off without prying the panel. The width and depth only need 3cm because the figure is set in from the side.

The Bristol customer picked the Apollo. Her email the next morning: "I thought the Chopper would be the one. It's bigger. It's the price I usually don't blink at. But the Apollo is the only one that sits right at my eye level on the side table without me having to stand up to see it. The Chopper reads like a poster. The Apollo reads like a window." Browse the full Pop Mart line in our store. Every case ships from the same factory line, packed in 5-ply corrugated cardboard with foam inserts so the figure and the acrylic don't shift in transit. We are the source factory — no middleman markup on the 3mm cast acrylic, on the 98 percent transparency, on the Snap-Fit connector, on the same LED strip across the line. Pick the figure. Send the photo. We will cut the box.
